Museum

With hundreds of pieces living at the Portland Museum of Art, with a constantly growing inventory of legendary pieces, art makes its way as a pinnacle of beauty and prettiness for the human imagination. I have been the Portland Museum of Art on numerous occasions, however there has been a great surge in equal rights among ethnicities and depicting art showing how racism has changed or what it is currently. Art in this case is being utilized for appropriate propaganda to inform the public in a drastic way of where we stand as a society. One piece that stood out in particular was Emma Amos, who had this little figure of a black woman with inappropriate stereotypes of and African American. However, one main question to ask is how does Art serve or really help in society? Well, Art linking back to the video, helps us appreciate things. This is truly a big one. To take into consideration, a lot of people in society don’t really realize how lucky they really are for the things they take for granted. The ability to refuse food because they have a lot, access to clean water, the simplest things. Not to mention the civil rights they have in comparison to many third world countries. Art builds on more than just “silly drawings”. They depict our society and help us reflect upon ourselves in a much more intricate manner. Overall, art like science, is a tool within itself that is used to “paint” our world and things beyond our own imagination.
